Abby Jimenez’s Part of Your World: Honest & Heartfelt

Every once in a while, you stumble upon a book that grabs you unexpectedly—and that’s exactly what happened to me with Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez. I hadn’t read anything by her before, but I picked this one up on a whim, and by the time I was a few chapters in, I was completely hooked.

So hooked, in fact, that I immediately went back to the beginning to read the entire Part of Your World series in order. Because if there's one thing I love more than a great book, it’s a series that lets me really get to know the characters—live with them, grow with them, root for them. And Abby Jimenez does this so well.

This series is different from the fluffy escapism of other romances I’ve read (like Sarah Adams’ When in Rome, which I also love for entirely different reasons). The Part of Your World books still have those heart-melting romantic moments, but they’re grounded in real, messy, and deeply relatable life experiences—burnout, anxiety, caregiving, heartbreak, and healing.

Yours Truly – The One That Started It All

This is the book that made me an Abby Jimenez fan. Yours Truly follows Briana Ortiz, an ER doctor dealing with way too much—her brother is waiting for a kidney transplant, she’s fresh off a terrible divorce, and she's completely disillusioned by her love life. Enter Jacob Maddox, a shy, kind, socially anxious doctor who starts leaving her thoughtful letters.

What begins as quirky office communication blooms into a genuinely sweet, slow-burn romance. Jacob was such a breath of fresh air—honest, awkward, incredibly self-aware—and Briana’s mix of strength and vulnerability was so easy to connect with. Their story didn’t just entertain me, it moved me.

Part of Your World – A Story About Choosing Yourself

After loving Yours Truly, I had to go back and read the first book, Part of Your World, and I’m so glad I did. It introduces Alexis, a successful ER doctor from a powerful medical family, and Daniel, a small-town carpenter with a heart of gold and a herd of rescue animals.

Their love story is filled with warmth and chemistry, but also explores deeper themes—like emotional abuse, pressure to conform, and redefining what a meaningful life looks like. Alexis’s journey of unlearning toxic expectations and learning to choose herself felt incredibly real.

Just for the Summer – When a Fling Becomes So Much More

The third book, Just for the Summer, has a fun and unique setup: two people who believe they’re cursed to ruin every relationship they’re in agree to “break the curse” with each other. Emma and Justin are internet strangers turned summer flings—but of course, things don’t stay casual for long.

Justin’s backstory as a full-time caregiver to his siblings was one of the most touching parts of this book. The emotional weight he carries, and the tenderness with which it’s written, made me tear up more than once. Emma, with her fierce independence and inner uncertainty, was equally compelling.

Why This Series Stands Out

I adore romance books that make me feel good, but I treasure the ones that make me feel seen. The Part of Your World series does that. Each book touches on challenges so many of us face—burnout, family pressure, loneliness, fear of vulnerability—and wraps those themes in characters you fall in love with.

Abby Jimenez’s writing feels like therapy wrapped in a love story. Her characters are flawed, funny, and real in a way that stays with you. There’s still plenty of swoon and feel-good moments, but they’re layered with emotional depth that makes every happy ending feel earned.

As someone who loves sinking into a series, this one was a perfect binge—each book can be read on its own, but reading them all made the world and characters feel so much richer.

If you’re a romance reader looking for books that are equal parts heartwarming, emotionally intelligent, and laugh-out-loud funny, Part of Your World is a must-read series. Abby Jimenez just earned a permanent spot on my favorite authors list—and I already can’t wait for whatever she writes next.
